A word about resveratrol from a scientist`s perspective
Having read all kinds of articles about resveratrol, I couldn`t believe what some of them were about. As a scientist, I detest stories that are made up to make people talk about a certain thing and spread false information. And most resveratrol articles were written precisely because of that. And while I agree that there is much more to be researched, I strongly disapprove of talking about the negative effects that are not scientifically supported.
For example, everybody is talking about the resveratrol side effects, even though thousands of people have been using it without experiencing any negative effects. There are cases where some people suffered from diarrhea, but this only happens when mega doses are taken. Other than that, there is nothing to suggest that the substance or the supplements could be harmful.
The idea that the substance is the biggest medical discovery since the antibiotics, as some people like to call it, is somewhat exaggerated. However, given the circumstances, it could be the biggest discovery but it still isn`t. The studies conducted on resveratrol and cancer are certainly promising, especially because there is evidence to support the claim that the substance could potentially prevent cancer.
Furthermore, what has been proved so far are the beneficial effects of resveratrol when cardiovascular diseases are in question. Until recently, there have been only speculations that wine might be the answer to preventing different types of heart conditions. What we now know and what has been proved is that it is not exactly wine that is so beneficial, but a substance contained in it, the name of which we are all familiar with.
As for weight loss, the research conducted on mice is quite astonishing and the fact that there are no studies conducted on humans is what allows
people to speculate and talk about whatever they want. From my perspective, it seems that weight loss is plausible and I expect that future studies will confirm my belief.
Anti-aging is another aspect of resveratrol that many people do not believe and I don`t blame them. Unless you are a doctor, scientist, nurse or someone who knows a few things about how our bodies work, it is very difficult to understand what actually happens. Judging on what I know about this issue, the ability to fight the process of aging is a property of this substance without a doubt.
